FROM THE PRESIDENT
For those in attendance, they know.
For those of you who missed our 2016 Meeting in Vietnam, you missed a lot.
According to most everyone in attendance, it was one of our very best meetings.
More than this, however, you missed our discussions about AMAZON and ALIBABA, moving into the international and forwarding business, worldwide. As the newspaper article stated, “THIS COULD BE A GAME CHANGER”. While this isn’t happening tomorrow, it’s on the way, along with a whole series of consequences.
The time is NOW to consider and prepare for those consequences, or face what could be some very challenging times ahead for the viability of your business.
What you once thought might be a nice protected customer, or niche, may become not so safe, as the large aggregators and multinational forwarders look for ways to replace existing market shares that may be lost to the likes of Amazon and Alibaba, and others like them.
While small and medium forwarders have always had to be more nimble and flexible, the one underutilized competitive advantage, relationships, may now have to be considered much more in a strategic sense than ever before.
We discussed this at some length in Vietnam, and we’ll be coming out with more on this in the weeks ahead.
However, it’s time to consider being far more proactive with building and expanding relationships at every point in your business. And, especially with your international partners.
Your future may depend on it.

FROM THE ADMIN
As we find ourselves back home from the 2016 Annual meeting, count the miles and hours traveled, look back through the photos, catch up on emails, and get back into the daily grind of business, let’s not forget all that we accomplished and the reasons we came together, RELATIONSHIPS.
We all know the importance of relationships but sometimes, in the busyness of our daily lives and lost in all the emails, we lose the personal touches that make these relationships thrive.
At the meetings we hear success stories of how building relationships with your fellow members (or anyone in your business) and maintaining those relationships can make the difference. We heard stories of members working together and as a result landing projects with 500 containers, 25 containers, and so on. One of our members came up to me at the meeting boasting that they had introduced themselves to a fellow member last year in an area that they didn’t think they would ever get business from and several months later received a call from that same company informing them that containers would be coming their way.
What would have happened if these members had never taken the time to create those relationships?
We say it over and over, put it on the website, and hang it under our logo but I will say it again, Good Relationships with Good Companies builds Good Business.
By being part of the team, part of the family of Globalink, you are already in a pool of Good Companies, this is part of the value the network provides to you; the Good Relationships part, that is up to you and the Good Business will take care of itself.

Every passing year is just another reminder of how strong our friendships are. So we want to wish our members a sincere “Happy Birthday”, may every wish you have come true!
