Things are changing in our Industry, dramatically
We are always at choice as to how to deal with this. Most of the time people tend to ignore change, much to their peril. Then, when it’s often too late, they ask, what happened? For small and medium forwarding businesses, they just can’t afford to make this mistake and hope they can survive and compete. Doing nothing here is extremely dangerous to the long term prospects for your business.
This is not a little change, like a new regulation, or another form. This could be life and death over the next five to ten years for many forwarders.
We will be discussing this topic at length at our upcoming meeting. And, I’m going to let you in on a little secret. There is a way to respond, that will not only make your company stronger and more competitive, but more and more, it’s looking like perhaps your only choice. As with all change, it will require you to break some old habits and to actually implement a new strategy. For that which you used to take for granted (not unlike water for instance), you will now have to consider as a critical resource and one that if utilized will pave the way to your success. It’s really not much to ask considering the alternative could be pretty dire.
As we come together in Da Nang this month, I first want to say thanks to everyone who is making this trip to be there for their partners. I ESPECIALLY WANT TO THANK ALL THOSE FROM NORTH AND SOUTH AMERCIA, AFRICA AND EUROPE, who are making the long trip this year. Every year, when we move the meetings, I can almost count on a number of members who might be facing a longer trip, to come up with a reason not to attend. Some are legitimate.
